Black Cat Awareness Month has come to the end and what a meaningful one this year. Every year, I create black cat Halloween cards. This is my favorite one plus a bonus treat: A Halloween cat poem.

The Midnight Meeting

Black cats prowl on Halloween night,
While bats swoop down, causing such fright!
“Hey there, bat friend,” purrs a cat with a grin,
“Care to join me for some midnight spin?”

The bat flips upside down with glee,
“A cat who wants to play with me?
Usually you chase me round and round,
Until I hide up high, you stay ground!”

“October’s our special time to shine,
When folks learn black cats are divine!
A whole month to show we bring good luck,
Not just spooky vibes when we strut!”

They shared some laughs and played until dawn,
A friendship that Halloween had spawned.
Now every year they meet to play,
When spooky nights chase light away!

And if you see a black cat near,
Remember they’re special all through the year.
Not just Halloween brings them fame—
October’s when we spread their name!
